Born in 1981, older brother to Nick, Chris lived most of his life in Romford, Essex, England. Chris graduated from Lancaster University with a Bio-Sciences degree and before joining Siemens UK in 2008, he worked at St. Thomas’ Hospital, London where he was involved with the aftermath of the 2005 London bombs. This experience added to his resolve to become a doctor – Chris’s greatest aspiration, apart from space travel, which he undoubtedly would have achieved.
Chris would take every opportunity to travel the world or try something new. He counted walking on the Great Wall of China, learning to deep sea dive and riding horses across the Virginian Appalachian Mountains as some of his key achievements.
He loved music – with diverse taste from ‘choral’ to ‘Korn’. A very talented artist, Chris produced many a caricature of his friends and latterly designed tattoos. An avid reader with a thirst for knowledge, Chris had a great love of history, science and science fiction, cultivating his desire for space exploration.
We will remember Chris as loyal, generous, sentimental and always ready to help anyone. He loved his soap box rants and would wholeheartedly play devil’s advocate when instigating a debate by imparting obscure or unknown facts to support his argument.
Suddenly diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in June 2008, Chris never gave up and no one could have fought harder through all the chemo rounds and stem cell transplant side effects. We were in awe of his tenacity to beat this dreadful disease. His heart wouldn’t give in – sadly his body did and he was lost to us in March 2009.
We all miss you so very much Chris – we’ve fulfilled your greatest wish the best way we can. Forever in our hearts - sail on across the sun and realise your dream – our shooting star.
