Ad Astras
by Veralyn Fanning
When I was young, I thought
But rarely of my death,
I had so much of life
And savored every breath,
But when I did, I vowed
I'd be consumed by flame
And I would leave this earth
With nothing but my name,
In a blaze of glory
And in no other place,
I'll find my rest at last
In orbit, out in space,
And when the time shall come,
Amid the fire and ice,
I'll blaze across the sky,
Not only once, but twice!
